Program for area youth entering grades 7th-9th.
The Summer of Service Project will provide youth a 6-week, in depth learning experience in their community. Program participants will engage in constructive and meaningful service activities while having fun and learning in the process! Youth Volunteers will be trained in First Aid, Basic Water Safety, food handling leading games and crafts, storytelling, gardening, geo-caching, and other skills needed for summer projects. They will work in teams of 10-12 youth and be supervised by adult staff at all times. Assignments include Jr. Lifeguard, book buddies, assisting at Camp Bennett, community gardening, leading games and recreation activities in the park, design and lead a scavenger hunt at local museums, nutrition and recycling activities at the Farmer's Market, and more. Volunteers with 100 hours of service will be eligible for $500 education awards.
